Applied Scholastics Tennessee has two major programs, the first is a training program for teachers, tutors, parents and students through the Applied Scholastics Tennessee Training Center and the second is our tutoring and educational program through the Literacy, Education and Ability Program known as LEAP.
Applied Scholastics Tennessee Training Center offers a wide variety of courses to improve classroom, teacher and student success, thus making education a rewarding experience for all. Contact LEAP's Executive Director, Marva Griffin, at leap2literacymemphis@yahoo.com.
The Literacy, Education and Ability Program is a different kind of educational program because we don't just tutor students - we teach them how to learn.
Equipped with the knowledge and skills they learn in our study courses, students are able to study effectively on their own with a greater ability to retain and use what they have studied.
Have you ever reached the bottom of a page and realized that you can't remember what you just read? Were you frustrated in school or felt like you just couldn't get it? Did certain subjects confuse you? Did you find that you could only get so far in a subject and then just stopped? If so, you've encountered one of the "Three Barriers to Study". If you understand these barriers and how to overcome them, you can learn anything you want to learn. This information is equally applicable to teachers and students and is one of the foundations of both programs.
LEAP provides educational services to students in Memphis.
